Emergency Phone Number List
Notice that some countries use the same set of numbers to dial for every department, may it be police, ambulance or fire, while some use a different set of numbers.
It is important to know and be familiar with those emergency phone numbers not just in our own community or country but also from other countries and even worldwide. It is important to have a copy posted in your house or in the office for future reference. But what are the importance of being familiar with or having a copy of those numbers?
What help can we get from saving or keeping those numbers?
An accident is inevitable and unexpected. We can never tell when or where it is going to happen. And since an emergency happens unexpectedly, we must be prepared before it happens to our loved ones or us. We must know who and what to contact in case of emergency. There are different emergency numbers around the world to be dialed for every department like police, ambulance, and fire department.
If you are in an emergency or witnessing an emergency, you must know what number to contact.
Among all the different emergency phone numbers, 911 and 112 are the most used. They can be referred to as a universal emergency number because most countries are using 911 and 112 as their country's national emergency numbers. But not every country uses these telephone lines.
In critical situations at home or at work, from being electrocuted to house burning or even being hit by a vehicle, we call for help and dial the emergency number that we know.
It is very useful to have lists of different emergency phone numbers, not only for your safety and protection but also for others. Maybe it is not you who will need those emergency numbers, but it can be other people who are in a crisis that are needing those numbers.
It is also important that you know the contact number of the police, ambulance, or fire department near you because someday it might be a help to you. That is why you must save those numbers on your cellphone or have them posted in a place where anybody can easily see and notice them.
The length of emergency telephone numbers
Emergency phone numbers are different from other contact numbers, which are composed of many and different digits. There are intentionally made to have few digits with repeated numbers to be easily remembered and dialed, especially in a life and death situation.
We will notice that most of the emergency phone numbers consist only of three digits, although not all of them are three digits, some have two, but most of them have three only. We will also notice that the numbers used are near to each other like one and two, and nine and zero for easy dialing. The number doesn't contain the same digit repeated to avoid accidental calls.
Since emergency numbers are used for emergencies, we must use them only for those purposes. We must not play on it or dial it to have fun or fool the operators because we might be putting someone else's life in danger.
